Nice piece, Rob. I'm a fan of Jared Diamond, and have but haven't yet read GUN GERMS AND STEEL. By the way, Diamond is not a historian, but a physiologist and evolutionary biologist. I like the way you've used his work to argue against the "superior cultural values" perspective.
