Stereotype of the Month Entry
(7/3/00)

Another Stereotype of the Month entry:

Indian "warrior" costume at Funshop.com

Only $449...a bargain at half the price!

"Pocahontas" toddler costume at HalloweenCostumes4U.com [search for "Indian"]

African witch doctor, Mexican bandito, and Chinese coolie costumes also available. <g>

*****

Addendum (8/3/01)
Some clever person at HalloweenCostumes4U decided it might be more appropriate to have a child with dark hair and slightly darker skin dressed as young Pocahontas. Good thinking. But this blonde girl was Pocahontas when I posted this stereotype.

An update from a correspondent:

Animal Mascots

>> The only Native Mascot you find (which is a horrible distortion of the Native person period) is listed under "Animal Mascots" Right between a horse and a kangaroo! <<
