Were the Aztecs Murdering "Animals"?
(4/28/00)

A response to Were the Aztecs Murdering "Animals"? by "Just an Old Man":

Couple of yrs ago on this ng some fool "expert" posted that they also ate the "40,000-50,000 sacrificial victims in two days".. & I roughly calculated that -- although the population of the city was 6 times greater than any European city at the time, that would've meant that every man woman & child would've had to eat at least 55 pounds of "meat" in 48-72 hours -- & that was taking into account only the "choice cuts".. Unfortunately your post indicates that idiots like that "expert" have the means to breed.

Good point, JAOM. The logistical problems of such an undertaking would've been enormous. That may explain why there's no documentation for the claim, as far as I can tell.
